Kells to Kells – The Quay to Success!
|
Saturday the 17th July started out grey and wet in the quiet village of Kells Co. Antrim. It seemed that the 3rd Annual “Adelaide Kells to Kells Ride-out” would be more of a wash-out than a ride-out! However, the rain did not dampen the spirits of the people of Kells and from early morning the Community Centre was a hotbed of activity. The previous night was no different as bikers descended on Kells from Ballymena having completed a small charity ride-out. They were greeted with a BBQ and a stunt riding display by Kenny Kirk. It was then on to the Buffs Club in Connor for some entertainment. The bikers, who took advantage of the camping facilities, joined the other riders making their way to the Kells Community Centre and were treated to an Ulster Fry! The rain, it seemed, was being lifted by the great comradery and community spirit, clearly evident by the smiles on everyone’s faces. The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and PSNI began their safety demonstration as the BBQ was fired up again. Adelaide’s Director, Sam Geddis, even volunteered to be used as a “casualty” and was cut from the demonstration car, much to the delight of the enthralled audience. TV personality Pamela Ballantine was on hand to interview the riders before they set off on the ride-out. One of the highlights was the rapturous applause received by the Garda escort as they arrived at the Community Centre ahead of the departure of the Kells to Kells Ride-out. Adelaide Insurance is proud to be associated with such and event and would like to take this opportunity to thank the Quay Vipers Motorcycle Club, without whom the event would not have taken place. They were consummate professionals in their attention to detail and endeavoured to make this year’s event the best yet…we think they succeeded! The Quay Vipers is a fantastic Club and their enthusiasm knows no bounds. They enjoy a laugh (as well as a good old tug-of-war!!) but when they need to get down to business, they come up trumps. Adelaide Insurance has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the Quay Vipers and looks forward to working with them for many more years to come. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Quay Vipers, the Kells & District Motorcycle Racing Club who worked in conjunction with the Quay Vipers, the people of Kells and everyone involved in making the 3rd Annual “Adelaide Kells to Kells Ride-out” the best yet. Here’s looking forward to next year! |
